This is the Route 66 Cafe in Pristina, Kosovo. The cafe might not be such an oddity, except for the fact that it's in a country whose population is 95% Albanian Muslims, a class of people I don't usually associate with the American Heartland or a drive from Chicago to LA. In Kosovo, however, they really appreciate the west and, in particular, the United Nations. They should. I would say the majority of the Kosovo economy is derived from supporting the huge contingent of United Nations KFOR peace-keeping troops and personnel whose presence is more than conspicuous in the country. 11/2005.
