From Skopje I took a bus to Ohrid, which is a large town in western Macedonia. I went there because the town, and the lake it sits on, are UNESCO World Heritage Sites. There's a reason why. Ohrid is one of the most picturesque places in Europe. The town is ancient, dating back before the time of Christ. It has also been somewhat oblivious to a lot of modern developments. I seems that the town is still in an another century, even though it has electricity, internet cafes, commercialism and all the other trappings of the current century. The place was simply charming and the lifestyle there appeared to be totally laid-back. It is one of those "old-world" cities with a medieval wall that surrounded the old town section of the city. 11/2005
